About Cross Stitch
Cross Stitch (thecrossstitch.com) turns a photo into a cross stitch pattern you can print and stitch by hand: a pet, a child, a house, a favorite picture.
What you get
- A pattern made from your photo, with the stitch width and number of colors you choose.
- A printable PDF: a symbol chart split into pages, a legend of DMC threads with stitch counts and estimated skeins, and the finished size on Aida fabric.
- A stitch editor to fix details, erase the background or add text before you download.
How it works
You upload a photo, crop it and watch the pattern appear in your browser. Each color is matched to the closest real DMC thread. The same photo and settings always give the same pattern; we do not use AI to invent or redraw your picture.
Patterns use full cross stitches and DMC floss.
Who it is for
People who stitch, or want to start, and have a picture they want to turn into a gift or keepsake. If you would rather start with something ready-made, the free pattern catalog has charts you can download without an account.
What it costs
The preview is free and needs no account. Downloading your first PDF is free with a free account. After that, a pattern costs 1 credit: packs start at $5.99, paid once, with no subscription. See Pricing.
Your photos
Photos are processed in your browser while you design. When you download a PDF, a small copy of the cropped photo and the finished pattern are saved to your account so you can download it again. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
