About The Cross Stitch Team

            The people that make up The Cross Stitch team are almost as eclectic as the selections of cross stitch patterns that you will discover on this site. In case you could not tell, we are not traditionalists in any sense of the word. We believe in progress, we believe in open source and we believe in freely sharing new ideas and new concepts with everybody.

That being said, if we had our way, we would make every pattern here available for free and hope we could pay for it with advertising. Unfortunately, that would prevent a great number of contributors and pattern makers from creating and distributing their own patterns as well as making the vast amount of bandwidth necessary to run this site both unprofitable and unsustainable.

Unfortunately we need to earn enough money to pay our bills. However, we also looked around at what other cross stitch patterns are available online. If you want a more traditional cross stitch pattern, you can go to just about any cross stitch and find them. What we could not find were two key elements to what we would consider a successful cross stitch site.

If you have something that you have created and you want to share it with the world, we do not believe you should have to pay for that right. Therefore, we do provide free cross stitch patterns to all of our contributors. If you contribute a pattern, picture, photograph, drawing or anything else to be converted to a unique cross stitch pattern, we believe that you should be rewarded for that.

However, we do not think receiving one free pattern will really encourage people to contribute either, so we sweetened the deal some. By creating your very own online cross stitch pattern store, you can also reap the financial rewards that you deserve for your work. Not only can you create your very own absolutely free cross stitch pattern, but you will earn a commission every time that someone purchases one of your cross stitch patterns.

Still, we did not think that was enough either. I mean, we have over one thousand patterns that we have contributed to the opening of this site and we truly hope that our members will contribute many more than what we already have. Therefore, sending someone to your personal store also gives the visitor that you have sent here literally thousands of other patterns to choose from.

Unless you are one of our substantial contributors with literally hundreds of patterns in your store, you may find that some of the visitors that you send here will ultimately purchase a product from somebody else. While we can understand that, we did not think that would be fair to you or encourage you to send visitors here to buy products. Therefore, we added yet another level to the sales commission that we are offering.

If you send somebody to our site, they will have your affiliate cookies in their browser. As that area of the project progresses, we will give you some help in making certain that your affiliate link remains as well. By doing this, no matter who your visitors to this site purchase from, you will still earn a commission. If they purchase one of your patterns, you will earn your regular seller’s commission in addition to the referral commission.

In other words, whether the visitor you send to the site purchases anything from you or from somebody else, everybody still wins. They can get the pattern that they want. You will earn your commission no matter who they purchase from. We will have a little bit left to put in the coffers and keep this site up and running.
